Fundamentals of Philanthropy Certificate Program

Fundraising and nonprofit administration are emerging private sector areas, and  growing opportunities exist for those who possess knowledge of the nonprofit business structure and have a philanthropic drive to give back to the community. The University of Miami Fundamentals of Philanthropy Certificate Program teaches the unique blend of fundraising, leadership, and management skills needed to assist a nonprofit entity in making a sustainable contribution to society. Students will explore crucial aspects such as board governance and relations, nonprofit programming and financing, and community relations in the nonprofit sector. Additional topics include the evaluation of human resource issues for nonprofits, researching grant funding opportunities, and handling consulting contracts and business development issues.

This program is offered through the Office of Professional Advancement at the University of Miami. The program is eight weeks in length and the price for the course is $3,495, plus the cost of textbooks (approximately $285).
